Its a simple fact that you get what you pay for, that applies to design as well. I recently visited a site called where for $50 you could get 6 logos designs with unlimited revisions. They would then send you the file along with the font (which is illegal by the way) for you to resize.
Now I’m not going to be a jerk and say their designs were poorly executed or hard to read. But I will say that even a rookie art student knows not to use clip-art for a logo. What’s worse their web site is full of copy from other websites and pixelated images.
So my advice if you strapped for cash is to save the $50 and make a simple text logo in Microsoft Word or Microsoft Paint.
-Alter the font
-Change the size, color, angle, etc.
-Be imaginative and have fun with it.
-But try not to be cliche’
-And make sure it is readable
You will save yourself time and money; and most likely create a better brand.
I really liked this post. Can I copy it to my site? Thank you in advance.
